حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ حَدَّثَنِي فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَدَنِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَى قَوْمًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَعُودُ مَرِيضًا فَاسْتَسْقَاهُمْ وَجَدْوَلٌ قَرِيبٌ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ: إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُمْ مَاءٌ قَدْ بَاتَ فِي شَنٍّ وَإِلَّا كَرَعْنَا.

Translation

  4. Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to some people of the Ansar to visit a sick person. He asked them for water, and there was a small stream near him. He said, "If they have water that has been kept overnight in a waterskin, fine; otherwise we will drink directly from the stream."
