حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

إِنْ عِشْتُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ، زَجَرْتُ أَنْ يُسَمَّى بِبَرَكَةَ، وَيَسَارٍ، وَنَافِعٍ - قَالَ جَابِرٌ: لَا أَدْرِي ذَكَرَ رَافِعًا أَمْ لَا - إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ لَهُ: هَاهُنَا بَرَكَةٌ ؟ فَيُقَالُ: لَا، وَيُقَالُ: هَاهُنَا يَسَارٌ ؟ فَيُقَالُ: لَا، قَالَ: فَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَزْجُرْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَأَرَادَ عُمَرُ أَنْ يَزْجُرَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ.

Translation

✧ If I live, Allah willing, I will forbid naming with Baraka, Yasar, and Nafi' — Jabir said: I do not know whether he mentioned Rafi' or not — for it is said to him: 'Is there any Baraka here?' and it is said: 'No,' and it is said: 'Is there any Yasar here?' and it is said: 'No.' He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away without having forbidden that. Then Umar wanted to forbid it but later abandoned it.
