✧ A man died, so we washed him, embalmed him, and shrouded him. Then we brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to pray over him. We said: Will you pray over him? He stepped forward, then said: Does he owe any debt? We said: Two dinars. He turned away, so Abu Qatadah undertook to pay them. We came to him and Abu Qatadah said: The two dinars are on me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Is the creditor entitled and the deceased absolved of them? He said: Yes. So he prayed over him. Then a day later he said: What happened with the two dinars? He said: He only died yesterday. The next day he returned to him and said: I have paid them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Now his skin has cooled.
