✧ This verse was revealed while we were present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "And fear a trial which will not afflict only those among you who have done wrong." We began to say: What is this trial? We did not realize it would occur where it did.

machine translationRuwaym b. Yazīd al-Muqriʾ was alone in transmitting it from Sallām b. Sulaymān al-Qāriʾ, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Salīṭ, from al-Zubayr. The companions of Yūnus contradicted him and said: from al-Ḥasan, from al-Zubayr. Likewise it was narrated by Dāwūd b. Abī Hind, ʿAlī b. Zayd and Mubārak b. Faḍālah, from al-Ḥasan, from al-Zubayr, and this is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version. And Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl al-Wasāwisī narrated it from Isḥāq al-Azraq, from Dāwūd, from al-Ḥasan, from ʿAwn b. Qatādah, from al-Zubayr.
