حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

أَرْسَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُنْطَلِقٌ إِلَى بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ فَكَلَّمْتُهُ، فَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا، ثُمَّ كَلَّمْتُهُ فَقَالَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا، وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُهُ يَقْرَأُ وَيُومِئُ بِرَأْسِهِ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ: مَا فَعَلْتَ فِي الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتُكَ ؟ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي إِلَّا أَنِّي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sent me while he was heading to the Banū al-Muṣṭaliq. I came to him while he was praying on his camel, and I spoke to him. He gestured with his hand like this. Then I spoke to him again, and he gestured with his hand like this, while I could hear him reciting and he was nodding with his head. When he finished, he said, "What did you do regarding what I sent you for? Nothing prevented me except that I was praying."
