حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُومُ فِي أَصْلِ شَجَرَةٍ - أَوْ قَالَ إِلَى جِذْعٍ -، ثُمَّ اتَّخَذَ مِنْبَرًا، قَالَ: فَحَنَّ الْجِذْعُ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ: حَتَّى سَمِعَهُ أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ، حَتَّى أَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَسَحَهُ، فَسَكَنَ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: لَوْ لَمْ يَأْتِهِ، لَحَنَّ أَبَدًا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand at the base of a tree—or he said: against a trunk—then he adopted a pulpit. He (Jabir) said: The trunk grieved. Jabir said: Until the people of the mosque heard it, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to it and wiped it, and it became still. Some of them said: Had he not come to it, it would have grieved forever until the Day of Resurrection.
