✧ A man from the Ansar called Abu Madhkur freed a slave boy of his called Ya'qub after his death, but he had no other property. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for him and said: 'Who will buy him? Who will buy him?' So Nu'aym b. 'Abd Allah al-Nahham bought him for eight hundred dirhams and gave them to him. Then he said: 'When one of you is poor, let him begin with himself. If there is any surplus, then for his dependents. If there is any surplus, then for his relatives'—or he said: 'for his kin'—'and if there is any surplus, then here and there.'
