✧ We set out proclaiming the Hajj. When we reached Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to make it an 'Umrah, and he said: 'If I had known then what I know now, I would have made it an 'Umrah, but I have driven the sacrificial animal and combined the Hajj and 'Umrah.'

machine translationSulaymān b. Ḥarb objected that Qatādah and other memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) narrated it from Anas in the same way, so the disagreement concerns Anas himself. He said: Perhaps he heard the Prophet ﷺ teaching someone else how to declare the intention for Qirān (combining ḥajj and ʿumrah), and so he thought that he was declaring it for himself.
