حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَبْتَلِيهِ اللهُ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] بِبَلَاءٍ فِي جَسَدِهِ، إِلَّا قَالَ اللهُ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] لِلْمَلَكِ: اكْتُبْ لَهُ صَالِحَ عَمَلِهِ الَّذِي كَانَ يَعْمَلُ، فَإِنْ شَفَاهُ غَسَلَهُ وَطَهَّرَهُ، وَإِنْ قَبَضَهُ غَفَرَ لَهُ وَرَحِمَهُ

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ There is no servant whom God [Mighty and Majestic] tests with an affliction in his body except that God [Mighty and Majestic] says to the angel: 'Write for him the reward of his righteous deeds that he used to do.' If He heals him, He washes him and purifies him; and if He takes him, He forgives him and has mercy on him.
