✧ When this verse was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Indeed, We have given you a clear victory, that Allah may forgive you what preceded of your sin and what will follow,' upon his return from al-Hudaybiyyah, while sadness and gloom were mixed among them, and he had already sacrificed the offering at al-Hudaybiyyah, he said: 'A verse has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the whole world.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we know what will be done with you, but what will be done with us?' Then it was revealed: 'That He may admit the believing men and believing women into gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever, and remove from them their misdeeds - and ever is that, in the sight of Allah, a great attainment.'
