حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ مَرُّوا بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقَالَ
مَرُّوا بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ. وَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ. فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي، مُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا فَقُلْتَ: وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ. وَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا، فَقُلْتَ: وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ، وَجَبَتْ ؟ ! فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ، وَمَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ شَرًّا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ النَّارُ، أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ
Translation

✧ They passed by a bier and it was praised well, and the Prophet ﷺ said, “It has become due, it has become due, it has become due.” And a bier was passed by and it was spoken ill of, and the Prophet ﷺ said, “It has become due, it has become due, it has become due.” 'Umar said, “May my father and mother be your ransom: a bier passed by and it was praised well, and you said, ‘It has become due, it has become due, it has become due,’ and a bier passed by and it was spoken ill of, and you said, ‘It has become due, it has become due, it has become due’?!” He said, “The one whom you praise well, Paradise has become due for him; and the one whom you speak ill of, the Fire has become due for him. You are God's witnesses on earth, you are God's witnesses on earth, you are God's witnesses on earth.”
