Musnad Ahmad 12805

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was brought a man who had drunk wine, and he flogged him with two palm branches about forty stripes. He said: Abu Bakr did the same. When it was Umar's time, he consulted the people, and Abd al-Rahman b. Awf said: 'The lightest of the prescribed punishments is eighty.' He said: So Umar ordered that.
