✧ When Makkah was conquered, he said: "The Messenger of God ﷺ distributed the spoils among Quraysh. The Ansar said: 'This is indeed strange: our swords are dripping with their blood, yet our spoils are given back to them.' This reached the Messenger of God ﷺ, so he gathered them and said: 'What is this that has reached me about you?' They said: 'It is what reached you,' for they did not lie. He said: 'Are you not pleased that the people return with the worldly goods while you return with the Messenger of God ﷺ to your homes? If the people were to travel through a valley or a mountain pass, and the Ansar were to travel through a valley or a mountain pass, I would travel through the valley of the Ansar or the mountain pass of the Ansar.'"
