✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out when the sun had declined and prayed ẓuhr. When he said the salām, he stood on the minbar and mentioned the Hour, and mentioned that before it there would be tremendous matters. Then he said: “Whoever wishes to ask about anything, let him ask about it. By Allah, you will not ask me about anything except that I will inform you of it as long as I am in this place of mine.” Anas said: The people wept profusely when they heard that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ repeatedly said: “Ask me.” Anas said: A man stood and said: “Where is my entrance, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “The Fire.” He said: Then ʿAbd Allah b. Ḥudhāfah stood and said: “Who is my father, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Your father is Ḥudhāfah.” He said: Then he repeatedly said: “Ask me.” He said: ʿUmar knelt on his knees and said: “We are pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muḥammad ﷺ as Messenger.” He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell silent when ʿUmar said that. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “By the One in whose hand is my soul, Paradise and the Fire were shown to me just now in the side of this wall while I was praying, and I have not seen like today in good and evil.”
