حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ يَعُودُهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: يَا خَالُ، قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ. فَقَالَ: أَوَخَالٌ أَنَا أَوْ عَمٌّ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَا، بَلْ خَالٌ. فَقَالَ لَهُ: قُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ. قَالَ: [هُوَ] خَيْرٌ لِي ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon a man from Banu al-Najjar to visit him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'O uncle, say: There is no god but Allah.' He said: 'Am I an uncle or a paternal uncle?' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'No, rather an uncle.' He said to him: 'Say: There is no god but Allah.' He said: 'Is it better for me?' He said: 'Yes.'
