حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمَّارٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا هَاشِمٍ صَاحِبَ الزَّعْفَرَانِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ بِلَالًا بَطَّأَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا حَبَسَكَ؟ فَقَالَ مَرَرْتُ بِفَاطِمَةَ وَهِيَ تَطْحَنُ وَالصَّبِيُّ يَبْكِي فَقُلْتُ لَهَا إِنْ شِئْتِ كَفَيْتُكِ الرَّحَا وَكَفَيْتِنِيالصَّبِيَّ وَإِنْ شِئْتِ كَفَيْتُكِ الصَّبِيَّ وَكَفَيْتِنِي الرَّحَا فَقَالَتْ أَنَا أَرْفَقُ بِابْنِي مِنْكَ فَذَاكَ حَبَسَنِي قَالَ فَرَحِمْتَهَا رَحِمَكَ اللهُ

✧ Ammar, meaning Abu Hashim, the companion of al-Za'farani, reported to us from Anas b. Malik that Bilal was slow for the dawn prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "What detained you?" He said: "I passed by Fatimah while she was grinding and the child was crying. I said to her: 'If you wish, I can take over the mill for you and you take over the child for me; or if you wish, I can take over the child for you and you take over the mill for me.' She said: 'I am gentler with my son than you.' So that detained me." He said: "You showed her mercy; may God have mercy on you."
