حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ بَعَثَتْهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِقِنَاعٍ عَلَيْهِ رُطَبٌ فَجَعَلَ يَقْبِضُ قَبْضَةً فَيَبْعَثُ بِهَا إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ، ثُمَّ يَقْبِضُ الْقَبْضَةَ فَيَبْعَثُ بِهَا إِلَى بَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ، فَأَكَلَ بَقِيَّتَهُ أَكْلَ رَجُلٍ يُعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ يَشْتَهِيهِ

Translation

✧ Umm Sulaym sent him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a basket of fresh dates on it. He began taking handfuls and sending them to some of his wives, then taking handfuls and sending them to some of his wives, then he sat and ate the remainder as a man eats who is known to crave it.
