حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِأَهْلِ النَّهَرِ: فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مَثْدُونُ الْيَدِ، أَوْ مُودَنُ الْيَدِ، أَوْ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ، لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرُوا لَأَنْبَأْتُكُمْ مَا قَضَى اللهُ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ ﷺ لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمْ، قَالَ عَبِيدَةُ: فَقُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ: أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ يَحْلِفُ عَلَيْهَا ثَلَاثًا

✧ Ali said to the people of al-Nahar: 'Among them is a man with a defective hand, or a shortened hand, or a maimed hand. Were it not that you would become overjoyed, I would tell you what God decreed on the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ for those who kill them.' Abida said: I asked Ali, 'Did you hear it?' He said, 'Yes, by the Lord of the Kaaba,' swearing to it three times.
