حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زحْمَوَيْهِ وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ وَسُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَصَمُّ قَالَ أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ مَوْلَى قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي السُّدِّيُّ وَقَالَ زَحْمَوَيْهِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ السُّدِّيَّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ
لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ عَمَّكَ الشَّيْخَ قَدْ مَاتَ، قَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَوَارِهِ، وَلَا تُحْدِثْ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي، فَوَارَيْتُهُ، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ فَاغْتَسِلْ، وَلَا تُحْدِثْ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي، فَاغْتَسَلْتُ، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ، فَدَعَا لِي بِدَعَوَاتٍ مَا يَسُرُّنِي بِهِنَّ حُمْرُ النَّعَمِ وَسُودُهَا.

✧ When Abū Ṭālib died, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Your elderly uncle has died. He said: Go and bury him, and do not do anything about his affair until you come to me. So I buried him, then came to him. He said: Go and bathe, and do not do anything until you come to me. So I bathed, then came to him, and he supplicated for me with supplications that would please me more than red camels and black ones.

يرويه السدي واختلف عنه فرواه سريج بن يونس ومحمد بن بكار وأبو معمر القطيعي وزحمويه وجمهور بن منصور وإبراهيم بن أبي العباس عن الحسن بن يزيد بن الأصم عن السدي عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي عن علي وحدث به حاتم بن الليث عن إبراهيم بن أبي العباس عن الحسن بن يزيد عن السدي عن سعد بن عبيدة عن أبي عبد الرحمن عن علي زاد فيه سعد بن عبيدة وهو وهم والقول الأول أصح

Abī al-ʿAbbās narrated it from al-Ḥasan b. Yazīd b. al-Aṣamm, from al-Suddī, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī, from ʿAlī. Ḥātim b. al-Layth narrated it from Ibrāhīm b. Abī al-ʿAbbās, from al-Ḥasan b. Yazīd, from al-Suddī, from Saʿd b. ʿUbaydah, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from ʿAlī, adding Saʿd b. ʿUbaydah in it. This is an error (wahm), and the first version is more correct.
