حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

إِنَّ أَوْفَقَ الدُّعَاءِ أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ: اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَاعْتَرَفْتُ بِذَنْبِي يَا رَبِّ فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ رَبِّي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ.

✧ The most appropriate supplication is for a man to say: 'O God, You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and I confess my sin. O Lord, forgive my sin, for You are my Lord, and no one forgives sins except You.'
