حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِمْعَانَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

تَرَكَ النَّاسُ ثَلَاثَةً مِمَّا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ بِهِنَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا ثُمَّ سَكَتَ قَبْلَ الْقِرَاءَةِ هُنَيَّةً يَسْأَلُ اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ فَيُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا خَفَضَ وَرَفَعَ.

Translation

✧ The people abandoned three things that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer, he raised his hands, extending them, then he paused briefly before the recitation, asking Allah of His bounty, and he said the takbīr whenever he went down and came up.
