حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
إِذَا نَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ عُقِدَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثُ عُقَدٍ بِجَرِيرٍ، فَإِنْ قَامَ فَذَكَرَ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أُطْلِقَتْ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَإِنْ مَضَى فَتَوَضَّأَ أُطْلِقَتِ الثَّانِيَةُ، فَإِنْ مَضَى فَصَلَّى أُطْلِقَتِ الثَّالِثَةُ، فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ وَلَمْ يَقُمْ شَيْئًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ أَصْبَحَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ يَعْنِي الْجَرِيرَ.
Translation

✧ When one of you sleeps, three knots are tied on his head with a rope. If he gets up and remembers Allah, Mighty and Majestic, one is released. If he proceeds and performs ablution, the second is released. If he proceeds and prays, the third is released. But if he wakes in the morning without rising for any part of the night and without praying, he wakes with it upon him—meaning the rope.
