حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ
نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ، قَالُوا: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَسْتُ مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ عِنْدَ رَبِّي يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي، اكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ.

✧ He forbade continuous fasting. They said, 'But you fast continuously.' He said, 'I am not like you. I remain with my Lord, who feeds me and gives me drink. Take on only such deeds as you are able.'
