حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ وَإِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةَ مُسْلِمٍ احْتِسَابًا وَكَانَ مَعَهَا حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا وَيُفْرَغَ مِنْ دَفْنِهَا فَإِنَّهُ يَرْجِعُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ بِقِيرَاطَيْنِ كُلُّ قِيرَاطٍ مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ، وَمَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا [ثُمَّ رَجَعَ] قَبْلَ أَنْ تُدْفَنَ فَإِنَّهُ يَرْجِعُ بِقِيرَاطٍ.

✧ Whoever follows the funeral of a Muslim out of faith and seeking reward, and remains with it until the prayer is offered over it and the burial is completed, he returns with a reward of two qirats, each qirat like Mount Uhud; and whoever prays over it [then returns] before it is buried, he returns with one qirat.
