حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ مُضَارِبِ بْنِ حَزْنٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَعْنِي لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ خَلِيلِكَ شَيْئًا تُحَدِّثُنِيهِ؟ قَالَ
قُلْتُ - يَعْنِي لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ خَلِيلِكَ شَيْئًا تُحَدِّثُنِيهِ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، سَمِعْتُهُ [قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ] ﷺ: لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا هَامَةَ، وَخَيْرُ الطِّيَرِ الْفَأْلُ، وَالْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ.

✧ I said—that is, to Abu Hurayrah—'Have you heard from your close friend anything you can tell me?' He said: 'Yes, I heard him [he said: The Messenger of Allah said] ﷺ: There is no contagion, no evil omen in the owl, and the best of omens is the auspicious one, and the evil eye is real.'
