حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ذَكْوَانُ أَبُو صَالِحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي مَا تَخَلَّفْتُ عَنْ سَرِيَّةٍ تَخْرُجُ، وَلَكِنْ لَا يَجِدُونَ حَمُولَةً وَلَا أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ وَيَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنِّي، وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي قَاتَلْتُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَقُتِلْتُ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ ثُمَّ قُتِلْتُ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ ثُمَّ قُتِلْتُ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ.

Translation

✧ Were it not that I would burden my nation, I would not stay behind from any raiding party that goes out, but they do not find mounts and I do not find what to carry them on, and it would burden them to stay behind from me. And I would love to fight in the cause of God and be killed, then brought to life, then killed, then brought to life, then killed, then brought to life.
