Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 80

The excellence of someone who looks after his daughter after she has been sent back home

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِسُرَاقَةَ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ أَلاَ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَعْظَمِ الصَّدَقَةِ أَوْ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الصَّدَقَةِ؟ قَالَ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ ابْنَتُكَ مَرْدُودَةٌ إِلَيْكَ لَيْسَ لَهَا كَاسِبٌ غَيْرُكَ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said to Suraqah b. Juʿshum: Shall I not guide you to the greatest charity, or one of the greatest charities? He said: Yes, O Messenger of God. He said: Your daughter returned to you, with no one to provide for her other than you.
