  1. Anas said that the Prophet (ﷺ) visited a sick man who had withered from sickness to such an extent that he could be compared to a bridling whose feathers had been plucked out. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "Make supplication for health." So, he began to supplicate Allah, " O Allah whatever punishment you intend to give me in the hereafter, give it to me here, in this life". The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Subhan Allah! You are not able to bear that. Why did you not make this supplication?:

✧ From Anas, who said: He entered—I said to Humayd: The Prophet ﷺ? He said: Yes—he entered upon a man who had become weak from illness, and it was as if he were a plucked chick. He said, "Supplicate to Allah for something or ask Him." He began saying, "O Allah, whatever You would punish me with in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world." He said, "Glory be to Allah! You are not able to bear it," or he said, "You are not able to bear it. Why did you not say: O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire?" And he supplicated for him, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, healed him.
