Someone who visits people and eats with them

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ

عَنْ أَبِي خَلْدَةَ قَالَ جَاءَ عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ إِلَى أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ وَعَلَيْهِ ثِيَابُ صُوفٍ فَقَالَ أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ إِنَّمَا هَذِهِ ثِيَابُ الرُّهْبَانِ إِنْ كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِذَا تَزَاوَرُوا تَجَمَّلُوا

Translation

✧ From Abū Khalda, who said: ʿAbd al-Karīm Abū Umayya came to Abū al-ʿĀliya wearing woolen clothes. Abū al-ʿĀliya said, "These are only the clothes of monks. When Muslims used to visit one another, they would adorn themselves."
