Translation

✧ Abū Jubayrah b. al-Ḍaḥḥāk narrated to me, saying: 'Regarding us, among the Banū Salimah, the verse "And do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames" (49:11) was revealed.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, and there was not a man among us but had two names. The Prophet ﷺ began saying, "O so-and-so," and they would say, "O Messenger of Allah, he becomes angry from it."'
