حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الضَّبِّيِّ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ حَذْلَمٍ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَذْكُرُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ بِالإِمْرَةِ بِالْكُوفَةِ خَرَجَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ مِنْ بَابِ الرَّحَبَةِ فَفَجَأَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُ أَبُو قُرَّةَ الْكِنْدِيُّ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا الأَمِيرُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكَرِهَهُ فَقَالَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَيُّهَا الأَمِيرُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ هَلْ أَنَا إِلاَّ مِنْهُمْ أَمْ لاَ؟
قَالَ سِمَاكٌ ثُمَّ أَقَرَّ بِهَا بَعْدُ
Translation

machine translationMūsā b. Ismāʿīl narrated to us, he said: Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us, from Mughīrah, from Simāk b. Salamah al-Ḍabbī, from Tamīm b. Ḥadhlam, who said: I remember the first one who greeted him as governor in Kufa. al-Mughīrah b. Shuʿbah came out from the gate of al-Raḥabah, and a man from Kindah suddenly met him; they claimed he was Abū Qurrah al-Kindī. He greeted him and said: "Peace be upon you, O governor, and the mercy of God. Peace be upon you." He disliked it, and said: "Peace be upon you, O governor, and the mercy of God. Peace be upon you. Am I not one of them, or am I not?"
