حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ بَرَازٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ:

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ نَعِيمٍ نُسْأَلُ عَنْهُ ؟ سُيُوفُنَا عَلَى عَوَاتِقِنَا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAbdullāh b. Salamah al-Baṣrī
  2. Ashʿath b. Barāz
  3. al-Ḥasan

✧ When this verse was revealed: “Then, on that Day, you shall surely be asked about the bliss” [Q 102:8], they said: O Messenger of Allah, which bliss will we be asked about? Our swords are on our shoulders.
