حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْخَالِقِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ، يَقُولُ:

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْمِنْبَرِ - وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الْأَشْرِبَةِ، فَنَهَاهُمْ عَنِ: الدُّبَّاءِ، وَالنَّقِيرِ، وَالْحَنْتَمِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ ؟ وَظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ نَسِيَهُ، فَقَالَ: لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، وَقَدْ كَانَ يَكْرَهُهُ

Translation

✧ I heard Abdullah b. Umar saying at the pulpit – and he pointed to the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ –: 'The delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about beverages. He forbade them from using gourds, hollowed-out stumps, and green jars.' I said: 'O Abu Muhammad, and the pitch-coated vessels?' We thought he had forgotten it. He said: 'I did not hear it that day from Abdullah b. Umar, and he used to dislike it.'
