machine translationAl-Thawrī narrates it from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā al-Thaʿlabī, from Abū ʿUbaydah, from his mother, from ʿAbdullāh, as a raised report (marfūʿ). Makhlad b. Yazīd and Abū Aḥmad said this. There is disagreement about Wakīʿ: Muḥammad b. ʿAbdillāh b. Numayr and Abū Hishām al-Rifāʿī narrated it from him as raised (marfūʿ), while Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal narrated it as a halted report (mawqūf), and the correct view is that it is raised (marfūʿ). Abū Farwah Yazīd b. Sinān al-Ruhāwī said: My father and Abū Qatādah narrated to us, both saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā al-Thaʿlabī, from Abū ʿUbaydah, from ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd, who said: "Indeed Allah is jealous on behalf of His Muslim servant, so let him be jealous." He did not say "from his mother", and he made it halted (mawqūf).
