حَدَّثَنَا مَسْرُوقُ بْنُ الْمَرْزُبَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ:
كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَلِيٍّ، فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ: أَقْرَأُ فِي الرُّكُوعِ أَوْ فِي السُّجُودِ ؟ فَقَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ فِي الرُّكُوعِ أَوْ فِي السُّجُودِ، فَإِذَا رَكَعْتُمْ فَعَظِّمُوا اللهَ، وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُمْ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ، فَإِنَّهُ قَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ
Translation

✧ We were with Ali when a man asked him: Should I recite while bowing or prostrating? He said: Ali said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: I was forbidden to recite while bowing or prostrating. When you bow, glorify God; and when you prostrate, strive in supplication, for it is worthy of being answered for you.
