حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ فِي الْقَوْمِ حِينَ نَزَلَتِ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي الْمَسْحِ بِالصَّعِيدِ إِذَا لَمْ نَجِدِ الْمَاءَ، قَالَ: فَضَرَبْنَا ضَرْبَةً بِالْيَدَيْنِ بِالصَّعِيدِ لِلْوَجْهِ، فَمَسَحْنَاهُ مَسْحَةً وَاحِدَةً، قَالَ: ثُمَّ ضَرَبْنَا ضَرْبَةً أُخْرَى لِلْيَدَيْنِ فَمَسَحْنَاهُمَا بِهَا إِلَى الْمَنْكِبَيْنِ ظَهْرًا وَبَطْنًا

✧ I was among the people when the concession was revealed for wiping with clean earth if we could not find water. He said: 'We struck one blow with the hands on the earth for the face and wiped it once. Then we struck another blow for the hands and wiped them up to the shoulders, back and front.'
