✧ I went out with Uthman b. Hunayf to visit Abu Talhah during an illness of his. He said: We entered upon him, and underneath him on his bed was a patterned cloth with images of figures. He said: Remove this from under me. Uthman said to him: Did you not hear, O Abu Talhah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say when he prohibited images: 'Except a design in a garment, or a garment with a design'? He said: Yes, but it is more pleasant for my soul that it not be placed under me.
