What scholars said about it
In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.
- al-Tirmidhi
machine translationGharīb (strange); we do not know it except from the hadith of Yūnus b. Muḥammad, from al-Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah.
machine translationMufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah al-Baṣrī, the brother of Mubārak, was alone in transmitting it, from Ḥabīb b. al-Shahīd, from him, meaning from Ibn al-Munkadir.
machine translationI do not know anyone who narrates it from Ḥabīb other than Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah, and they said that Yūnus b. Muḥammad was alone in narrating from him.
machine translationThe scholars of terminology mentioned that what al-Bukhārī is categorical about has the ruling that it is sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and here al-Bukhārī was categorical about it, as you see.

machine translationAnd I do not know anyone who narrates this other than Ḥabīb.
machine translationMufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah has a collection of narrations from Hishām, from ʿUrwah, and a collection from Ibn Jurayj, and he narrates sound (ṣāliḥ) hadith from others than these two. I did not see in his hadith anything more objectionable (munkar) than this hadith which I dictated, and the rest of his hadith is upright.
