✧ The gift of a Muslim to a disbeliever and his bequest to him

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: مَا قَوْلُهُ: ﴿إِلا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ مَعْرُوفًا ﴾؟ قَالَ: " الْعَطَاءُ، قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَعَطَاءُ الْمُؤْمِنِ لِلْكَافِرِ بَيْنَهُمَا قَرَابَةٌ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، عَطَاؤُهُ إِيَّاهُ حَيًّا، وَوَصِيَّتُهُ لَهُ

Translation

✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: What is the meaning of His saying: “unless you do a kindness to your allies”? He said: “Giving.” I said to him: “Is it a believer giving to a disbeliever between whom there is kinship?” He said: “Yes, his giving to him while alive and his bequest to him.”
