Translation

✧ Ayyūb b. Yaḥyā went out to Aden, and a Christian man who had insulted the Prophet ﷺ was brought before him. He consulted about him, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Yazīd al-Ṣanʿānī advised him to kill him, so he killed him, and he narrated a ḥadīth to him about that. He said: He had met ʿUmar and heard much knowledge from him. Ayyūb wrote about that to ʿAbd al-Malik, or to al-Walīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik, and he wrote back commending that.
