✧ Misappropriation of booty

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ قَالَ:
إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ أَتَى الْقَبَائِلَ فِي مَنَازِلِهِمْ، يَدْعُو لَهُمْ، وَيُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَتَرَكَ قَبِيلَةً مِنْ تِلْكَ الْقَبَائِلِ لَمْ يَأْتِهَا، وَإِنَّهُمُ الْتَمَسُوا فِيهِمْ، فَوَجَدُوا فِي بَرْذَعَةِ رَجُلٍ عِقْدًا مِنْ جَزْعٍ قَدْ غَلَّهُ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَاهُمْ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِمْ كَمَا يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ
Translation
✧ On the day of Hunayn, the Prophet ﷺ came to the tribes at their encampments, supplicating for them and greeting them, but he left one tribe among those tribes and did not come to it. They searched among them and found in a man's saddlecloth a necklace of onyx that he had misappropriated. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to them and prayed over them as one prays over the dead.
