عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ:
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ إِلَى جَذِيمَةَ، فَدَعَاهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَلَمْ يُحْسِنُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا: أَسْلَمْنَا، وَجَعَلُوا يَقُولُونَ: صَبَأْنَا، صَبَأْنَا، وَجَعَلَ خَالِدٌ بِهِمْ قَتْلًا وَأَسْرًا، وَدَفَعَ إِلَى كُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا أَسِيرًا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمٌ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ يَقْتُلَ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا أَسِيرَهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ فَقُلْتُ: وَاللهِ لَا أَقْتُلُ أَسِيرِي، وَلَا يَقْتُلُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي أَسِيرَهُ، فَقَدِمْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَرَفَعَ - يَعْنِي يَدَيْهِ - فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ مِمَّا صَنَعَ خَالِدٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent Khalid b. al-Walid to Judhayma. He called them to Islam, but they did not know how to say 'we have become Muslims,' and they kept saying 'saba'na, saba'na' (we have apostatized). Khalid began killing and taking prisoners among them. He handed over to each man among us a prisoner, until on one day he ordered each of us to kill his prisoner. Abd Allah b. Umar said: I said: By God, I will not kill my prisoner, and no man among my companions will kill his prisoner. Then we came to the Prophet ﷺ and he raised — meaning his hands — and said: O God, I disavow to You what Khalid did, twice.
