✧ The obligation of jihad

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ:
أَنَّ الْغَزْوَ أَوَاجِبٌ عَلَى النَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ ؟ فَسَكَتَ، فَقَدْ عَلِمَ لَوْ أَنْكَرَ مَا قُلْتُ لَبَيَّنَ لِي، فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ: تَجَهَّزْتُ لَا يَنْهَزُنِي إِلَّا ذَلِكَ حَتَّى رَابَطْتُ، قَالَ: " قَدْ أَجْزَأَتْ عَنْكَ
Translation
✧ That raiding is obligatory upon all the people? He was silent; he knew that if he disapproved of what I said he would have clarified it for me. I said to Ibn al-Musayyib: 'I prepared myself; nothing stirred me except that until I was stationed at a frontier post.' He said: 'It has sufficed for you.'
