✧ The Game of the Trained Animal, and Whether Hunting Dogs Are Sent after Carrion

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا، يَسْأَلُ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُ صَقْرًا لَهُ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَحُومُ حَوْلَهُ، رَأَى طَائِرًا فَانْقَضَّ حَوْلَهُ، وَسَمَّى الرَّجُلُ قَالَ: " لَا تَأْكُلْهُ إِلَّا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ ذَكَاتَهُ؛ لِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يُرْسِلْهُ هُوَ
Translation
✧ I heard a man asking Qatadah about a man who was training a falcon of his, and while it was circling around him, it saw a bird and swooped down on it, and the man pronounced the name of Allah. He said: "Do not eat it unless you catch up with it while it is still alive and slaughter it, because he did not send it himself."
