✧ The cat and the locust

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ،
أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ، أَوْ أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ، شَكَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، أَغْلَقَتْ بَابَ مَنْزِلِهَا عَلَى هِرَّةٍ بِمَكَّةَ، وَوَلَدَيْنِ لَهَا، وَخَرَجَتْ إِلَى مِنًى وَعَرَفَةَ فَوَجَدَتْهُنَّ قَدْ مِتْنَ، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تُعْتِقَ عَنْ كُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ رَقَبَةً
Translation
✧ Maymunah or Umm al-Fadl—Abu Bakr was uncertain—locked the door of her house in Makkah on a cat and her two kittens, and went out to Mina and Arafah. She found them dead, so she mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered her to free a slave for each one of them.
