عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ الْأَحْدَبِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ:
جَاءَ حُذَيْفَةُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا أُعَجِّبُكَ مِنْ نَاسٍ عُكُوفٍ بَيْنَ دَارِكَ، وَدَارِ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؟ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: فَلَعَلَّهُمْ أَصَابُوا، وَأَخْطَأْتَ، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: " مَا أُبَالِي أَفِيهِ أَعْتَكِفُ، أَوْ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ هَذِهِ، إِنَّمَا الِاعْتِكَافُ فِي هَذِهِ الْمَسَاجِدِ الثَّلَاثَةِ: مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ، وَمَسْجِدِ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَالْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى " وَكَانَ الَّذِينَ اعْتَكَفُوا -فَعَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ حُذَيْفَةُ - فِي مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ الْأَكْبَرِ
Translation
✧ Hudhayfah came to 'Abd Allah and said: Shall I not amaze you about people performing i'tikaf between your house and the house of al-Ash'ari? 'Abd Allah said: Perhaps they were right and you were wrong. Hudhayfah said: "I do not care whether I perform i'tikaf in it or in these houses of yours. I'tikaf is only in these three mosques: the Sacred Mosque, the mosque of Madinah, and the Aqsa Mosque." And those who performed i'tikaf - whom Hudhayfah criticized - were in the Great Mosque of Kufah.
