✧ Making up Ramadan

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ فَجَاءَهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ عِنْدَ الْعَصْرِ، أَوْ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَمْ آكُلُ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا، أَفَأَصُومُ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ عَلَيَّ يَوْمًا مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، أَفَأَجْعَلُهُ مَكَانَهُ ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ

Translation

✧ I was with Ibn al-Musayyab when a Bedouin came to him in the afternoon, or after the afternoon, and said: "I have not eaten anything today; shall I fast?" He said: "Yes." He said: "But I owe a day from Ramadan, so shall I count this one in its place?" He said: "Yes."
