عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَيَمْضُغُ الصَّائِمُ عِلْكًا ؟ قَالَ: " لَا " قُلْتُ: إِنَّهُ يَنْفُثُ رِيقَ الْعِلْكِ، وَلَا يَزْدَرِدُهُ وَلَا يَمُصُّهُ قَالَ: فَإِنْ لَمْ يَزْدَرِدْ رِيقَهُ فَإِنَّهُ مَرْوَاةٌ لَهُ، فَإِنِ ازْدَرَدَ رِيقَهُ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ يُنْهَى عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ
Translation
✧ I said to 'Ata': May a fasting person chew gum? He said: No. I said: He spits out the saliva of the gum and does not swallow it or suck it. He said: If he does not swallow its saliva, it is a means of quenching for him, but if he swallows its saliva, while saying he is forbidden from that, then he has broken his fast.
