✧ Estimating Dates and Grapes and What Is Taken from Them

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَتَّابَ بْنَ أَسِيدٍ حِينَ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ: اخْرُصِ الْعِنَبَ كَمَا تَخْرُصُ النَّخْلَ، ثُمَّ خُذْ زَكَاتَهُ مِنَ الزَّبِيبِ كَمَا تَأْخُذُ زَكَاةَ النَّخْلِ مِنَ التَّمْرِ " قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: وَكَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ: " فِي صَدَقَةِ التَّمْرِ أَنْ يُؤْخَذَ الْبَرْنِيُّ مِنَ الْبَرْنِيِّ، وَيُؤْخَذَ اللَّوْنُ مِنَ اللَّوْنِ، وَلَا يُؤْخَذَ اللَّوْنُ مِنَ الْبَرْنِيِّ، وَأَنْ يُؤْخَذَ مِنَ الْجَرِينِ، وَلَا يَضُمُّونَهَا
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ commanded ʿAttāb b. Asīd when he appointed him over Makkah, saying: "Estimate the grapes as you estimate the palms, then take their zakah from raisins as you take the zakah of palms from dates." Ibn Jurayj said: And ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz wrote: "Regarding the sadaqah of dates, the barnī should be taken from barnī, and the lawn from lawn, and lawn should not be taken from barnī, and it should be taken from the threshing floor, and they should not combine them."
