✧ Charities Are Only for the Poor

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ وَهْبًا يَقُولُ:
كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ: أَنْ لَا يُقَسِّمَ الصَّدَقَةَ عَلَى الْأَثْمَانِ، وَأَنْ يُعْطَى كُلُّ عَامِلٍ عَلَى قَدْرِهِ، وَالْفُقَرَاءُ، وَالْمَسَاكِينُ عَلَى قَدْرِ حَاجَتِهِمْ، وَزَمَانَتِهِمْ
Translation
✧ ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz wrote to ʿUrwa b. Muḥammad: Do not distribute charity according to prices; rather, give every worker according to his status, and the poor and needy according to their need and their chronic disability.
